Advocate Pauline Allen

Pauline made her way south from her early years in the North East of England and Sheffield University to arrive in Guernsey in the early 1980’s with her husband and 2 children in tow to begin her legal career in Guernsey in 1986.
Pauline had previously worked for the Inland Revenue but left there to be more artistic and look after her 2 children. With a move to Guernsey set for 1984 she decided to finish off her legal studies and qualify as an advocate.
After completing all of the formalities she went on to specialise in trusts and pension funds. Her area of expertise later expanded to incorporate other private client based work including Family work.
Pauline maintains this dual trust and family role as she feels that to do only family work would be enormously stressful and she would prefer to keep her blood pressure as normal as possible so that she can eventually enjoy her retirement.
More recently Pauline’s views on how family matters, especially financial settlements after divorce should be managed, lead her to pioneer Family Mediation in Guernsey as an alternative to acrimonious and expensive legal proceedings to end a marriage. She has been working as a Family Mediator since 1998 and is now part of a larger group of Guernsey mediators, ‘Mediate’.
In 2003, Pauline also qualified as a civil mediator as part of the ADR Group.
